The Subtle but Significant Barrier to your Next Change Management Initiative

by | May 13, 2020

Cognitive Bias – The forming of mental perceptions or prejudice based on assumptions or past experiences. (Perception drives an individual’s behavior bc perception is THEIR reality)

The Steps to overcoming Cognitive Bias

Empathize & Understand: Take time to listen with the intent of seeing things from the perspective of the person or group that is being impacted by the change.

Influence with Facts and Data: This will be the irrefutable proof needed to shift the perception of those in opposition to the plan for change

Persuade: Align your facts and data with the emotions of the person or people resting the change. Create excitement by revealing the WIFM factor!

Convince: Remove all or doubt of the negative impact of the plan for change and receive complete buy in and support.
